Follow-Up Thank You Email:

Going the extra mile with a thank-you email or sending a handwritten note during the interview process is well worth the effort. Why? Reaching out to the Hiring Manager after an interview with a thank-you email has proven time and time again to ensure you stand out above your competition. It also demonstrates that you are a respectful, enthusiastic and thoughtful professional.

There are a variety of templates online for how to write the perfect thank-you letter however we believe it is best to be original with your email, as hiring managers can sometimes receive hundreds of thank-you notes throughout their career.

A great thank-you email will address the following:

·      Appreciation for the interviewer’s time.

·      What you learnt about the role, company culture and vision of the company.

·      If you had any follow up questions that were not addressed in the interview.

·      What sets you apart from other candidates, or how you can benefit their organization.

·      What the timeline is for hearing back from the company.

Typically, a thank-you note sent within 1-3 business days is recommended and gives both parties ample time to think in further detail about the interview.

A professional and well-written follow-up is important when making first impressions within an organization. Proofread, or send the thank-you email through your recruiter or a trusted friend who can review it before you send it to the appropriate contact.

Remember, the hiring managers are taking time out of their busy day and hoping their investment of time will pay off. They want you to succeed and be the perfect fit for their organization- so stay calm, enjoy the interview process and getting to know your potential coworkers!
